Party at My House!

We’re going to be having a big party soon. I don’t want to send out mega-mart brand invitations. I’d like elegant invitations to show off my new style. So, I went for a browse through TheInvitationDepot.com and found all kinds of interesting and unique invitations. I really like their selection and the care they put into them.

Their main theme is wedding invitations, but they also have them for birthdays (extra special Sweet 16 invitations, which my daughter will love), Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, etc. At first I didn’t find their party invitations, so I was a little bummed. But then there they were! They have so much to choose from, so I spent too much time on the site just browsing. We are celebrating a recent remodel to our house and want to do something fun. So I picked these umbrellas. Ok, well, maybe not umbrellas, but they look like it, don’t you think?
invitationThese invitations don’t have envelopes, which is really interesting. You just add the address on the back, seal it up and send it off. I love that! No mess, no fuss and so very cute. They’re perfect for me.

If you’re looking to buy invitations, I suggest going on over for a look-see. Even if you’re not looking to buy, it’s still worth the browse. I’m thinking of having a Superbowl party in February and I’m pretty sure I’ve already found the invitations I’ll need for that. Then I’ve got my parents’ wedding anniversary and soon a high school graduation… Wow! I just realized how many special events are coming up next year. I guess it’s a good thing I already checked out the inventory there. I’d better get back to shopping.

Love Hurts (my eyes)

CBS is really on my last nerve.

Just when it started to look like my favorite soaps were getting somewhere BAM! they hit the crap out of the ballpark.

First, I want to say that the Jack/Katie pairing on “As the World Turns” was bad from day one. BAD is a big way. Katie is whiny and self-important and really, c’mon, she doesn’t come close to comparing to Carly. But… and this is  another big but… they’ve torn Carly apart with this “I’m sick! I’m not sick! I’ll pretend to still be sick!” thing. I know it’s a soap and they have to get drama from somewhere but that’s just lame.  Now it seems they’ve decided that Jack and Katie shouldn’t be together after all. Gee, ya think? Katie loses again and Jack… ? Well, who the hell cares? He’s lame too. Carly, though, gets her man.

Here’s what I think. ATWT writers need to focus less on the love/hate/who’s the daddy? relationships and more on the extended family relationships. Carly and Gwen would rock if their sibling relationship were utilized more. Someone goes after Gwen? Shoot, Carly to the rescue! That would work. Or, how about this? Lily finds out someone is harassing her son and actually does something about it? There’s too much focus on these shabbily put together romances when there’s so much better material with the family dynamics! Yeah, it’s true that most of bored housewives watch this to get away from out mundane lives, but I want to see sparks, and anger, and revenge! I want to see family teaming up with family!

I swear I’m up to my eyeballs with this who’s-the-daddy crap. It’s more like “who’s the slut now!” crap. There’s a lot of material that the writers are just ignoring. They seem so focused on what worked back in the day. Sorry, folks, it’s not working anymore! For instance, what happened to Noah? Why have we suddenly lost interest in him? He’s newly gay and orphaned but we’re focusing on Meg/Paul/Rosanna/Craig? GAG! Somewhere from last summer and now ATWT lost some kind of umph. And I’m pretty sure I know why.

I’m not even going to get started with GL. Honestly, what the hell? I read a spoiler that said Reva and Natalia are going to go head to head, so I’m going to watch and decide if they’ve got the balls they really need to stay on-air. That thing with Marlena/Cyrus/Griggs/Harley/Alex…? There’s a huge storyline right now getting ignored for that? Ok, then. Spoilers look kind of promising though, so we’ll see.

I fear the end of my soap era, sadly. Change is good, people, change is good. Embrace the modern…
