The Grump and I have a vacation spot, but it’s not anywhere near the ocean. But we’ve actually spent some time at a beach rental and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had. So, every so often I’ll take a peek at what is offered and dream. I ran across a site that offers Vero Beach condos for rent. Vero Beach is in Florida and Florida is awesome. Anyway, VacationRentals.com is a good place to start for beach-side rentals.

The site doesn’t just show a picture of the building and give a phone number of a contact person. It offers a travel guide complete with things to do and see in places like Vero Beach as well as tips such as “When to visit” (”In general, try to avoid the town in June, when temperatures get really high.”) and “What to know about…” (”f you’re a sports fan and are drawn to Vero Beach for the Holman Stadium, which hosts the Dodgers baseball team’s spring training, we’ve got some bad news for you – Vero Beach won’t be “Dodgertown” in 2009″). These kinds of tips are really time savers if you want to know more than just the best shopping and beach areas.

One of the best things the site offers is a Rental Guarantee. A lot of different sites will post listings that are just scams and bilk people out of a lot of money. Their fine print, of course, takes liability for the scams away from them. If you’re like me and dreaming of a beach getaway (Ohio is ugly this time of year) then this site is the way to go. There’s plenty of information to make an informed decision and the prices are excellent. Finally, the guarantee takes away most of the worry of shopping for rentals online. Now, if I can only get Grump to agree to go away with me…
