Long Summer Ahead

We recently lost our health insurance so I’ve been looking at leads for insurance to figure out what to do. I need to continue my medications and unfortunately they aren’t free. The area where I live isn’t known for their free clinics, either. But surprisingly, the individual insurance isn’t as expensive as I originally thought. The bad thing is that for the price we were paying for individual through Grump’s work I won’t get as much benefit.

There are so many people in this country that are chronically ill and they’re facing the same problem that I’m facing. What to do about our meds? It really sucks considering that we’re the only remaining super power. I’m not going to get all political, but I don’t qualify for free or reduced government medical benefits and I’m really having a hard time managing my illness right now.

We’re trying to save up a few hundred dollars to pay for a couple of month’s worth of insurance so I can get my meds covered. And my doctor says he’ll just call in my prescriptions. That’s good anyway. Both of them are monthly, so if we can get by with that for a while I’ll be good. Right now I’ve run out and have to wait until tomorrow to get some, which is probably why I’m so grumpy.

The good news is that “Burn Notice” is coming back on next week. I’m excited to see Mike, Fiona and Axe back on my screen. I really love that show. USA Network does an excellent job of picking their primetime shows, but I think they need to pick more shows to get me through the week. The “major” networks really don’t have anything on what USA shows. Since the season finales it’s been a real drag trying to find good, fun drama to watch (and HGTV is killing me with those dreadful “My First Place” and “Property Virgins”). So, I’ll be occupying my time with that. And hopefully our personal situation picks up a little so that this stress can go away.
