TMZ Must Take Down Troyer Tape
When will these quasi-famous people learn that it’s never safe to do the nasty while the video is shooting? Did no one learn from the Paris Hilton fiasco?
Well, if you haven’t seen Verne Troyer’s (”Mini-Me”: Austin Powers) lady friend strutting around in her lovely Shirley of Hollywood costumes, you’ve probably missed your chance. Oh, wait… This is the Internet. I forgot. Once online, always online.
TMZ got a hold of a video of Troyer and his friend getting down and promptly put it on their website and broadcast parts of it on-air. Troyer took the company to court and won.
U.S. District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez issued a temporary restraining order against TMZ and two other parties allegedly attempting to sell the video after ruling that Troyer “demonstrated a strong likelihood of success” in his suit.
According to court papers, the video of Troyer and former girlfriend Renae Schrider was stolen from the actor’s residence in the last few months and “was never intended . . . to be shown to the public.”
The judge’s order prohibits TMZ, promoter Kevin Blatt and SugarDVD, an online distributor of adult films, from selling or distributing the video.
So, now the greedy sex peddlers are breaking into people’s homes to see if there are any “interesting” videos lying around just waiting to be fed to the world. Which is precisely why that stuff should never be recorded in the first place- unless it’s your intent to become famous again any way that you can think of.
Who told the peddlers that Troyer had a naughty tape anyway?
