The Return of Jonathon

Finally, we get to see Tom Pelphrey as “Jonathon” again. According to reports, he’s only back for a six week stint, but may stay longer “if needed”. I feel bad that his primetime career didn’t take off, but I’m glad to see him back on my soap.

Yesterday’s ITL focused on a memorial service for Tammy. It was one year ago that she was killed off. A week after that Jonathon took Sarah and “ran off a cliff”. Except he just faked their deaths. He really went to live in some burg in California. Reva’s known for a long time and has been keeping it a secret, but pretty soon the secret’s going to come out. Yesterday at the end of the show, Bill’s eyesight came back and he saw Jonathon looking at him in the church. Also, Lizzie saw Sarah standing outside. Of course, the show ended there.

The spoilers are saying that Lizzie tells Reva that she saw Sarah and Reva tries to convince Lizzie she didn’t. Then Reva goes to Bauer Cabin to find Jonathon to tell him that he’s busted. While there Lizzie is going to show up. Jonathon takes Sarah to hide while Reva distracts Lizzie, at one point singing overtop of Sarah’s crying. Lizzie doesn’t catch them at that point.

But coming up soon Lizzie’s going to see Jonathon and all’s coming out. According to the spoilers she’s going to tell Bill that she’s not really pregnant and then run out into traffic. Jonathon is going to be there to save her. It could be she thinks it’s his ghost at this point, but I’m thinking this is when she finally gets reunited with her daughter.

Stephanie Gatschet’s back only as Tammy’s ghost. I don’t know why Tammy Ghost doesn’t tell her mama that Sarah and Jonathon aren’t “with her”. According to the book, Jonathon was haunted by Tammy for the first few months he lived in California and then Tammy told him it was ok to fall in love again. So why isn’t Tammy spilling the beans to her mom? That’s really been bothering me. But then the writer’s, well, they’re not too interested in keeping with the cohesion.

I was really impressed with the outdoor lighting and sound control of the new layout, though. I expected it to look a lot worse than it did and to sound even worse (like a bad home movie). They’re doing a really good job with that. Hopefully they’ll see a ratings spike and get enough money to higher a new head writer. One that takes an interesting story and actually does something with it. I see some good things coming out of the new filming technique and return of a favorite character. I’ll be sad when they mess this up.

I just wanted to comment on why Tammy’s “Ghost” hasn’t told Cassie about Jonathan and Sarah. Several times Tammy has pointed out to Cassie that she’s in her head and that everything going on is her thoughts. Therefore, since Cassie doesn’t know, Tammy can’t tell her.

I understand that. And I like the idea of Tammy’s ghost. It’s just that she seems to know so much about everything else, but she doesn’t spill the beans about Jonathon.

It’s a moot point now, anyway. Springfield’s about to find out the secret in a big way.
