Mills “baptizes” Lawyer

Heather Mills let loose on Paul McCartney’s lawyer after a judge gave her a paltry sum of $48.6 mil.

McCartney didn’t comment after Monday’s three-hour private hearing, but Mills, 40, emerged for an impromptu news conference on the courthouse steps — railing against McCartney’s lawyer, Fiona Shackleton.

Shackleton, who represented Prince Charles in his divorce from Princess Diana, emerged from court Monday with a wet head, reportedly from a glass of water that Mills had dumped on her. Mills told reporters Shackleton had been “baptized in court.” McCartney’s representatives declined to comment.

Ms. Mills was seeking much more than was awarded her, on the grounds that she somehow became McCartney’s business partner and “rekindled” his career. About that, the judge said:

The judge said that Mills enjoyed going on McCartney’s concert tours “because she thoroughly enjoyed the media and public attention.”

“But to suggest that in some way she was his ‘business partner’ is, I am sorry to have to say, make-belief,” he added.

“I wholly reject her account that she rekindled the husband’s professional fame (after his first wife’s death) and gave him back his confidence.”

Well, Ms. Mills certainly has proved herself to be one classy lady, hasn’t she? She asked the court to refrain from publishing the judge’s opinion because she claimed her four year-old daughter would be in danger. I doubt that. No doubt she really didn’t want the judge’s admonishments made public, further embarrassing her. I give kudos to McCartney’s lawyer for not going after Mills for assault (as would not doubt happen here in the U.S.).
