Living in the Shadows
I was doing some blog hopping today. I have never realized how many blogs there are that tell people how to blog. It’s amazing, really. I’ve seen the usual blogs that give advice (I prefer Problogger, Copyblogger, and Blogger Unleashed), they give you the lists and how to increase productivity and traffic. But there are so many little blogs that are trying to do the same thing. It’s funny! They really remind me of the high school girls who think so-and-so (was Jennifer Aniston back in the day) is so cute, so they all get their hair done the same way. Or the Goth kids that all dress so gloomy and think they’re being original.
Notice the “kids” theme there? Very unoriginal. And funny. Did I mention that?
I thought about doing the same thing here. Really, because it looks so easy. Just pick a topic from an archive on a more popular blog and go from there. Not too difficult right? Blog about blogging!! I’d be one of in crowd. Except not. I’d be too busy living in someone else’s shadow. Nope. I’ll just watch the gurus from afar and figure it out for myself. Too much blogging about blogging can really give you a headache anyway. Reading the sheep blogs about blogging gives you a headache because you kind of feel sorry for them. It’s hard finding a spot where you can really shine, and they’re sitting in the shadows of others.
At any rate, I’ll be around to my old hangouts sometime this weekend. Life’s getting pretty hectic for me and I was getting caught up in reading some funny stuff. I’ve got to get back to the grind and back on track. It’s so damned easy to get distracted online. I should get myself a parental control block on all my favorite sites. Then I can’t visit them. I’ll just have to suffer and actually make some progress. Maybe I’ll even get that web scripting crap done. Heh.
