Kathy Talks about Paris Ad
Kathy Hilton isn’t too very happy about John McCain’s ad featuring her daughter, Paris.
“I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain’s contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country’s time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next president of the United States.”
Kathy and her husband have donated the maximum ($2,300 a piece) to McCain’s presidential campaign. Neither are thrilled with this disparagement of their daughter. It’s one thing that these kinds of attacks come from the tabloids, quite another when they come from presidential hopefuls- those who should be above the nonsense as well as those that receive substantial endorsement (they are not allowed by law to donate more) from the subject’s parents.
I do, however, find it completely fascinating that the same types of people that speculate which diet pill Paris might be endorsing now, find it distasteful for McCain to use her image (without her approval, apparently) in a campaign ad. They love to see the dirt, but this goes too far? I don’t like the ad and I don’t like the microscope focusing on this diva’s life. It’s all unimportant in the grand scheme of things.

Well it is rather distasteful to use your supporter’s daughter, who ever she might be, in a negative light like that. I too agree that the attention that Paris is getting is way out of proportion, but somehow you expect more of a presidential candidate than a bunch of gossip journalists. Maybe that’s the difference? (Also the audience is probably a bit different in their moral expectations.)
