I’m a little bored

Soulgirl did a post a few days ago and it seems that some posties didn’t like it. The post is actually about a soul weekender. I’m assuming this is a weekend concert thing with lots of singing, dancing, and merriment. Apparently, Soulgirl posted a picture of a Scotsman with his kilt up. And that set off the fireworks. In the comment area she gets:

I was surfing through Postie blogs while I was at work during my lunch hour.

Loading a picture of a naked man is not cool.

A little warning next time maybe?

And:

Not all your readers are in Scotland, though. Seeing a guy’s parts dangling there isn’t cool at all. Dangling guy parts just isn’t that attractive. Keep in mind, also, that some people may have children looking over their shoulders, and it’s not up to you to educate them in anatomy. It might be best to have the photo further down the page and warn readers first. They can then choose to scroll down or not.

Yikes!

Anyway, it seems that someone ratted Soulgirl out to PPP and they “suspended” her for having mature content. The suspension was then lifted after much ado about… whatever. Soulgirl is back to work and the forum thread has been locked. So, why do I care?

Well, because of the reaction of some towards Google and the PR reduction. There was much growling and cursing of the G-folk because Google was censoring them and taking away their right to free speech and… Well, here’s a small sampling. These same folks that ratted out Soulgirl (who’s blog rocks, by the way) swore up, down, and sideways that they would never allow anyone dictate what they put on their blog. They wouldn’t have Google censoring them. They weren’t beholden to anyone.

And yet they can’t have two paid posts back to back, not too much swearing, and most certainly no Scotsmen with their kilts up. Not only are they not allowed to do “whatever I want” because of a TOS with which they could make some good money (Google’s) but they’re not allowed to do “whatever I want” because of TOS with which they can make good money- as long as the first TOS is in good standing. But they’re not being censored and they would never censor anyone. Unless, of course, they came face-to-face with what’s really under a Scotsman’s kilt. Then all bets are off.

I’m have no idea who reported Soulgirl for the TOS violation at the place that doesn’t censor bloggers. And she’s been reinstated. I just wonder if the person that reported her really didn’t have anything better to do with her/his time and/or if that person should maybe have had a stiff tequila before they sent in the report to the PTB. Really.

Hey! Thanks for the support - I really appreciate it and your blog was eyeopening - some people are just hypocrits :D

Hi, Karen!

I probably should have looked a little harder for your name. I suck like that. I’m sorry.

Anyway, no problem. I thought you got the shaft in that incidence. And though proof cannot be had, I’m sure it was a “postie” and not an advertiser.

Thanks for stopping by.

It could well have been Anne who left a similar comment… her blogs about churchy things LOL. And don’t worry about my name :D
