Check for “MyRightArm and zero dollars”
A Pittsburgh woman says that Comcast cable published a check that she sent them. The image of the check contained personal information and was made out in the amount of MyRightArm and zero dollars. She said that an unnamed Comcast employee published the check online and used snide language to describe it. Fortunately someone who saw the check alerted the woman before any real damage could be done. Still, that’s not stopping her and her husband from suing the cable company.
Krista Cooney and her husband Chad are suing the Philadelphia-based cable television company for invasion of privacy. They say an unknown Comcast employee circulated a copy of the check _ containing their personal banking information _ along with a snide comment. They say a Colorado man saw the image and alerted them.
A Comcast official did not immediately comment on the suit.
I’ve never tried to send a check for my actual arm (though I’ve been heard to mention things cost that much). I wonder if it would work. But I’d want to do it for a vacation. I’d pack my Briggs and Riley travel gear, head up to Hopkins and fly south and pay for everything with various body parts. How much do think a margarita goes for in The Florida Keys? A left thumb?
