Baseball’s Back in Ohio

Baseball season is in full effect in Ohio. In my part of the Buckeye State that means it’s Tribe time- all the time. That’s fine if you like the Cleveland Indians. I, though, do not. I don’t particularly like baseball anyway, but the Indians make me cringe.

My husband wants to buy a huge console equipped with a plasma tv mount so that he can watch the Tribe in all their glory until they start choking again sometime at the end of summer. It happens every single year. They start out on fire and get everyone excited. And then… nothing. Cleveland fans get so close and yet are always left disappointed. I’ve given up on most Cleveland teams (except for the Cavs, and that’s just been recently) and I’ve tried to convince my husband to do the same. No luck. He still just knows they’re not going to fall by the wayside this year. I imagine that he dreams of a moment like in the movie with Charlie Sheen, “Major League”. If only…

Though Indians fever can be irritating, it’s also a little endearing. Their fans are faithful and no amount of losing “by this much” will deter them. They’re going to be with them to the very end. I just wish right now that my husband wasn’t one of them.

Go, Tribe!
