I can tell you why they like reality shows and Dateline, they're cheap! I heard somewhere that the longer a series goes on, the more expensive they get. The Law and Order series, of which I love Criminal Intent on Bravo Sunday afternoons, costs tons of money. Quality shows become more and more rare because no one is willing to take a chance on anything. I'm surprised Heroes got made in the 1st place. I got into Heroes mid season last year and was hooked since.
