Journeyman needs to stay

Have you ever watched “Journeyman” on NBC? It’s a new show on Mondays after “Heroes”.  I positively love that show! Honestly, if NBC decides to pull one of their little “pull halfway through the season” things like they did last year with “Kidnapped” I will so be over them.

If you haven’t seen “Journeyman”, you’re missing out. Unless you don’t like a little bit o’ sci-fi. If you like “Heroes” (which rocks) then you’ll like “Journeyman”. Dan Vasser is a guy that somehow got volunteered to get sucked into a time hole so he can go back in time to save people. The only person that knows he can do this is his wife, which he told in the pilot episode (thankfully). But she’s having a hard time with her man popping in and out of their time to go, you know, back. Also, Dan runs into his old love, Livia, who he thought died in a plane crash. Turns out that Livia is a time traveler too. She seems to be his guide.

Anyway, tonight I missed the first 10 minutes, but I’m glad. Last week they showed previews of Dan leaving his son, Zack, and getting sucked into the timehole. I guess that happened in the first few minutes. So, Dan had to keep going back and he’s really having some issues because he misses his son. He meets his father back then, a man who abandoned his family when Dan was seven. Apparently his father is a real jerk. Duh. Dan doesn’t want to be like him, yadda yadda. He’s really upset about the situation with his son and they really focused on that.

Dan’s brother seems to be falling back in love with Dan’s wife, Katie. That’s a little interesting because Dan’s brother thinks he’s doing drugs or gambling and Katie can’t tell him any differently, but it seems like she’s really leaning on him. Right now the police think that Dan held up a store (he came back from his time travels with a gun and a bunch of people saw him with it) and Jack (I think that’s his name, I’m going to have to look that one up) is convinced that Dan had something to do with it. Katie, of course, can’t tell him what’s really going on. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a big show where Dan gets arrested for the robbery and Jack is the one putting the cuffs on him. Just wait for that one.

At one point in the show, Dan felt himself getting sucked back and he was alone with his son. He ran into the other room and was yelling for his wife when BAM! he gets sucked away. The camera panned out and we saw Zack standing there watching. Can you imagine what that had to look like to a 7 year old? I think that’s the point where Zack’s opinion of his dad’s job changed. Ya think? At the end of the episode Zack told Dan that he saw his dad do his “magic trick” and Dan seemed really messed up. Now the question is how is he going to explain this to his son and still keep his secret?

I’d also like to note Dan’s small conversation with the physics professor. I’m predicting that this guy knows exactly what’s going on and wants a part of it. I see a kidnapping in store, and maybe even a secret government agency. This guy has got to have some kind of connection to Dan and Livia. You can just see it. Dan, I think, let too much slip when he was talking to that guy.

The main premise to the story was that Dan was helping a man called Dillon McCleen. He supposedly hijacked a plane, stole $100,000, jumped out of the plane, and was never heard from again. Of course Dan found out who McCleen really was and why he took the money. I won’t give that part away. The guy did give Dan a substantial amount of 1970’s money and, well, that will probably tie into the grocery store robbery storyline. :) It was really neat how it ended up though.

There’s a lot of good mystery to this show. I’m really loving it. Here’s keeping my fingers crossed that they don’t pull something stupid and take it off the air.
